Xiongan New Area, strategically positioned in Hebei province, is poised to become a pivotal component of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei capital region. As part of China’s strategic initiative, educational and research institutions will be relocated from Beijing to this burgeoning hub, positioning Xiongan to rival the significance and sophistication of Shenzhen and Shanghai Pudong. This Special Economic Zone will alleviate congestion in Beijing by shifting non-capital functions southward, thereby enhancing the region’s overall efficiency and livability.
A defining feature of Xiongan’s development is its harmonious integration with the natural landscape. The Xiongan Boot Area, overlooking the Baiyangdian wetland, a crucial ecological zone, serves as the foundation for the city’s environmentally conscious and landscape-sensitive design. This wetland not only influences the city’s layout but also fosters a sustainable approach to urban planning, underscoring Xiongan’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
