Die Welle

The design concept for Welle Frankfurt creates a holistic spatial body, providing the existing building ensemble with a new, differentiated identity through the “Wave Park”.

The design concept for Welle Frankfurt creates a holistic spatial body, providing the existing building ensemble with a new, differentiated identity through the “Wave Park”.

The special urban location of the planning area in the immediate vicinity of the Alte Oper and the proximity to the city centre required a redesign of open space connection in order to actively counteract the current isolation of the inner area.

Here, the wave is seen as part of an overall urban ensemble that extends beyond the area and is spatially related to its surroundings.

Through the conceptual fusion of selected materials, forms and uses, the open space design develops an atmosphere of dynamics between density and expansiveness, creating a design in which the new open space zoning “Glory”, “Joy” and “Chill” can be experienced as a matter of course.

As a symbol of dynamism and the international standard of design and perception, the Wave Park flows through the space as an urban, green landscape inside.
