At its heart, BikeOnda aspires to create a seamless link between the Po River and the Alpine foothills, acting as a key hinge between Turin and the scenic Lanzo Valleys. Doing so aligns with Turin’s metropolitan objectives, contributing to a larger vision of an interconnected and resilient region.
Gentle Mobility Meets Territorial Regeneration
Building on LAND’s ongoing work on Viale Buridani and Via Mensa in Venaria Reale, BikeOnda extends the commitment to sustainable urban development into a broader territory. This cycle-pedestrian infrastructure connects Venaria Reale—home to the UNESCO-listed Reggia di Venaria—with neighbouring municipalities, including Druento, San Gillio, La Cassa, and Fiano. Funded by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, the Metropolitan City of Turin, and local administrations, the project is more than just a cycle path; it is a framework for reconnecting people with places, reducing environmental impact, and encouraging healthier lifestyles.
Cultural and Natural Heritage as Anchors
BikeOnda catalyses the area’s potential, promoting cycling tourism while rejuvenating the Ceronda Valley’s rich cultural and natural assets. The project includes:
- Thematic routes are designed to attract visitors and enrich the tourism offer of the Reggia di Venaria by extending it to surrounding municipalities.
- The recovery of La Bizzarria, a 19th-century hunting lodge built by King Victor Emmanuel II, an emblem of the area’s eclectic heritage.
- Enhancements to the Mandria Regional Park, increasing its accessibility and appeal.
- Securing pedestrian and bicycle traffic along the provincial road between Druento and San Gillio, ensuring safety and connectivity.
