Landscape is Life
Faced with the challenges of the climate crisis, we have a special responsibility to pursue a vision of society where people and nature can co-exist in harmony. Sustainability absolutely requires us to support the processes of social transformation. Recognizing that things will continue to develop after we’re gone and that possibilities must remain open for future generations, change must be created with people, not against them. LAND: our name stands for Landscape, Architecture, Nature, Development.
Landscape: We work at every scale.
City and countryside belong together. Everything is landscape, it’s our capital. Now it’s no longer just a question of preserving the landscape, but rather of cultivating it, renewing it, and developing it into a “productive landscape.” Rather than something to be protected, it becomes the driving force behind a process in which nature assumes a productive role.
Architecture: We create space for people.
Quality of life can be created in urban landscapes if these landscapes are developed empathetically and sustainably, using nature as the moderator. A new player is about to take the stage, as natural, undeveloped space not only provides the prompts but also joins built space in playing the lead.
Nature: We cultivate resilience.
In order to develop quality of life, we need nature with its vegetative power. We need clean air, clean water, and healthy soil for landscapes that create identity. Nature leads us to forge new paths. And old ways of being must be broken up, like soil that’s been covered and sealed.
Development: We strive for sustainable development.
While they may differ locally, nature-based methods are the key to global restoration of sustainable ecosystems. By directly observing today’s living environments and understanding their origins, we can use solution-oriented thinking to spark innovative processes that can be measured in terms of planning, and thus controlled.
