Valentina Galiulo at NBS Summit in Porto
Our Project Director, Valentina Galiulo, represents LAND at the NBS Summit in Porto with insights into Nature-Positive Landscapes.
Valentina Galiulo participates on May 24th in the NBS (Nature-Based Solutions) Summit in Porto, which has the overarching theme “Discussing Nature-Based Solutions For Sustainable Urban Development.”
As an expert, she attends the Projects Panel on May 24th and presents “Nature-Positive Landscapes: Re-Thinking Cities and Territories in the Climate Emergency with Nature-Based Solutions.” The focus of her contribution is the innovative projects where green infrastructure is pivotal in enhancing urban resilience and sustainability, drawing from the extensive experience of our LAND Research Lab she is part of.
Crucial in this sense are the benefits of ecosystem services provided by nature-positive landscapes, such as air and water purification, carbon sequestration, and temperature regulation. These landscapes play a critical role in climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, reducing urban heat islands, managing stormwater, and protecting against extreme weather events.
The NBS Summit is a premier international event focusing on applying nature-based solutions in urban areas. It gathers experts, policymakers, and industry leaders worldwide to discuss and promote sustainable practices integrating natural processes into urban planning and design.
