LAND Research Lab in Bilbao – TFactor Pilot of Zorrotzaurre
The LAND Research Lab is actively involved in the T-Factor activities on the Bilbao pilot, particularly in Zorrotzaurre.
The T-Factor EU project, with six pilots across European Cities, is a unique opportunity to bridge higher education and communities, unlocking new placemaking practices that can contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable Zorrotzaurre.
The pilot looks for prototypes, tactics, and narratives that reimagine Zorrotzaurre’s streets and other public spaces and assets according to principles and qualities of greening, pleasantness, and resilience to climate change: active and slow mobility (walking and cycling), safety and pleasantness of stay and movement, mitigation of extreme rainwater and other weather events, and so on.
Our Head of the LAND research Lab, landscape architect Andrea Balestrini, will give a lecture on Nature-Based Solutions and Temporary Uses. NBS addresses issues like climate change, carbon neutrality, water management, food security, and biodiversity preservation while simultaneously tackling social issues like access to public space, human health and wellbeing, gender equality, and education. In this lecture, students will learn how NBS can create more sustainable, resilient and inclusive cities.
