A departure into a new era where we once again become part of nature, which we had despised as alien for too long.” This is how Andreas Kipar pleads in his lecture on the first Schlossgespräch on 5.11.22, organised by the Pro Natur Herrsching association.Conquer new open spaces, break up old urban areas, and create places for a sharing society and intense togetherness. All this is possible in the interplay of nature, respectful culture, sustainable mobility, and economy, and it is in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus proclaimed by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. We must break our old habits and develop a sustainable model for the future.
“I have learned something fundamental in my last lectures: we have no time, but the right time to act is now!”An important topic here is landscape as an intergenerational asset and how this asset can be used in times of climate change. He explains how to achieve those goals with the help of numerous examples based on the urban talents of the respective place.
Airolo in Ticino, on the Gotthard, is known to many. LAND is working there on redesigning the Airolo Valley, where an extensive nature and leisure zone is replacing the fragmentation of the area caused by the infrastructures. The landscape becomes a community project for all generations at the Lindlarer Panoramaweg in Bergisches Land (Germany). At the same time, in South Tyrol, the strategy for sustainable regional development focuses on ecosystem services and creates desire and courage for the future. The interplay of blue, green and grey infrastructures enables climate change adaptation and a better quality of life.
