The Wunderkammer hosts Carlo Stanga’s illustrations for LAND
On the occasion of the Fuorisalone of the Milan Design Week 2023, LAND's Wunderkammer in Via Varese 12 is transformed into a treasure box in which to immerse oneself in the "WanderWorld" of illustrator and architect Carlo Stanga printed by Spazio81.
For Milan Design Week 2023, this year’s Fuorisalone proposes the title “Laboratorio Futuro” (Future Workshop), giving voice and space to how we imagine our future concerning the uniqueness of the times in which we live. Hence, our idea is to share with the public the beautiful illustrations that Carlo Stanga, internationally renowned illustrator and architect, has created for LAND in response to a request that echoes the theme of the Fuorisalone: looking at the contemporary landscape and the intra-urban and regional dimension and the new relationships between human beings and nature, which are often intimately linked and indistinguishable. Called upon to illustrate the LANDmagazine about the joy of the landscape all around, Carlo Stanga proposed the series “WanderWorld”, a title that “suggests wandering in the landscape, an unplanned journey that leaves room for the pleasure of serendipity,” as the illustrator explains. And what better place, than the Wunderkammer, LAND’s exhibition space, wanted by Andreas Kipar, in Via Varese 12, a few steps away from the Italian headquarters of the international landscape consulting firm, to share these wonders with the public of Milan Design Week 2023?
Here, thanks to the collaboration with Spazio81, a partner in the project, visitors can immerse themselves in the unique and atmospheric landscape designed by Carlo Stanga. Large images printed on a cotton canvas support represent a path to discovering the landscape around us beyond the city. The Wunderkammer thus honours its name, the Chamber of Wonders, and becomes a place to be amazed and excited.
“Landscape knows no boundaries, and it is with this awareness that we have cultivated our story since the beginning in 1990. As landscape architects, we increasingly play a decisive role in constructing landscape stories capable of regenerating urban communities and entire territories. Our task is to cultivate relationships between the parts.” (Andreas Kipar)
In line with the format experimented with during the last edition of the Fuorisalone, LAND is again proposing an event to deepen the artistic experience in Wunderkammer.
On Monday, 17 April 2023, at 5 p.m., there will be the vernissage, followed by a talk between Andreas Kipar, Carlo Stanga and Massimiliano Tonelli, director of Artribune, on the role of art in the creation of new relationships with each other and with nature, starting with Carlo Stanga’s illustrations. Nature is seen with new eyes, and the artist helps us understand this perspective. The talk will be held on the terrace of LAND in Via Varese 16.
