LAND Austria at the XVIII. Austrian Specialist Conference for Pedestrians 2024
Mira Kirchner from LAND Austria participated last week at the XVIII Austrian Specialist Conference for Pedestrians 2024.
The conference, titled ‘Actively mobile on foot in the neighbourhood – transformation of public spaces & liveable street spaces,’ (Zu Fuß aktiv mobil in der Nachbarschaft – Transformation öffentlicher Räume & lebenswerte Straßenräume),” was held on June 4 and 5 in Vienna, Seestadt Aspern at the Kulturgarage.
During the dynamic “Speed Dating” session on June 4, Mira Kirchner presented the innovative LAND project “Raggi verdi” (Green Rays Strategy, Milan). This strategy connects existing green spaces and creates new pathways to enhance pedestrian and slow mobility. The Green Rays Strategy promotes a greener urban environment and ensures that pedestrians have continuous, safe, and enjoyable routes throughout the city.
Her presentation highlighted the importance of integrating green infrastructure with urban planning to foster sustainable and livable cityscapes. By connecting parks, gardens, and other green areas, the Green Rays Strategy exemplifies how thoughtful design can transform public spaces and create vibrant, pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods.
