Water Park, Arcore
Italy
The Arcore Water Park protects the area from flooding and allows people to enjoy a natural environment also designed for social and aggregation purposes. It is large natural reservoir, planted with hygrophilous vegetation species, capable of storing water up to a capacity of 14 thousand cubic metres and then slowly dispersing it. A green meadow on which one can safely walk in the absence of rain, is a symbol and landmark of the park itself.

Arcore Water Park inauguration
Arcore Water Park. Inauguration
Today, as never before, water is once again a central and vital element in our daily lives. From a simple liquid to be disposed of, it becomes a resource to be kept and made visible and functional to transform and regenerate our territories and cities.
The Water Park is the first example of a new design strategy that is adaptive to the emerging challenges of climate change. It uses the elements of soil, water, and greenery in favour of a regenerative and resilient nature for the entire local community.
In line with the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and sustainable development promoted by the New Green Deal, the park presents a system of integrated solutions for water regulation, the redevelopment of the environmental system and the enhancement of the social fabric. The water flows in a channel towards an infiltration basin, a large natural reservoir planted with hygrophilous vegetation species able to accommodate, accumulate and disperse water. In the absence of rain, a green lawn is perfectly walkable, a symbol and landmark of the park itself.
