Milano Green Week 2024: A Collaborative Workshop for the Future of Cultural Heritage

As part of Milano Green Week 2024, LAND, in collaboration with the Comune di Milano, hosted the workshop "Due Cascine per Imparare," a unique event focused on envisioning the future of Milan's cultural heritage.

The workshop occurred Saturday, 28 September, in Milan,at the historic Cascina Linterno and Cascina Sant’Ambrogio, drawing participants of all ages for discovery, creativity, and forward-thinking discussions.

The event allowed attendees to delve into these urban farmsteads’ rich historical and cultural significance while also imagining how they could evolve into inclusive, ecologically sustainable spaces for future generations. Through interactive activities and guided tours, expertly led by members of the LAND Research Lab team and local farmstead managers, the principles of the New European Bauhaus — beauty, inclusion, and sustainability — were brought to life.

Participants actively engaged with the space, sharing their insights and emotions, contributing to a deeper collective understanding of how these ecological hubs can serve the community in new, meaningful ways. The day highlighted the importance of collaborative approaches to cultural heritage, fostering a shared vision reflecting past and future aspirations.

A special thanks goes out to our key partners Apicoltura Veca and CasciNEt for hosting the event, as well as to Queeny Giacone, Stefano Boeri Architetti, and THINGS for their invaluable support in making this initiative a success. The workshop was further enriched by the European project HeritACT, which aims to introduce innovative solutions and cultural practices that support environmental sustainability.

The success of “Due Cascine per Imparare” (Two Farmsteads for learning) exemplifies how collaboration, creativity, and environmental consciousness can breathe new life into historical spaces, paving the way for a more sustainable and inclusive future.
