The climate emergency is a key challenge for the landscapes of our era. Mitigation and adaptation measures are crucial to ensure human well-being and the efficient functioning of ecosystems. Nature-positive landscapes are our response to the hazards and uncertainty of a changing climate.

Urban open spaces represent a chance to rethink our way of life with a view to a greener and more equitable transition. Our planning approach makes the landscape a moderator of other disciplines, to provide an integrated vision that considers all meaningful aspects of urban planning within a collaborative process.

Brownfields and new urban developments are a lifetime opportunity to introduce innovative solutions and planning approaches. Energy, ecological transition, and the need for more sustainable infrastructure shape the development of peri-urban and rural areas into productive landscapes.

Sustainable urban development also implies justice and social inclusion. Planning procedures must engage with local communities to ensure the participation of different ages, genders, viewpoints, and cultural backgrounds. With the support of experts and innovative methodologies, we bridge the interests of various stakeholders and bring them to a shared vision.

The real legacy of our society must be the ability to apply digital technologies and scientific knowledge to the design and management of ecosystems to ensure a more sustainable future for our planet. Assessing natural capital is our mission, in order to create environmental awareness and promote data-driven strategies.

Climate Adaptation & Mitigation

The climate emergency is a key challenge for the landscapes of our era. Mitigation and adaptation measures are crucial to ensure human well-being and the efficient functioning of ecosystems. Nature-positive landscapes are our response to the hazards and uncertainty of a changing climate.

Integrated Urban Planning

Urban open spaces represent a chance to rethink our way of life with a view to a greener and more equitable transition. Our planning approach makes the landscape a moderator of other disciplines, to provide an integrated vision that considers all meaningful aspects of urban planning within a collaborative process.

Landscape Transformation

Brownfields and new urban developments are a lifetime opportunity to introduce innovative solutions and planning approaches. Energy, ecological transition, and the need for more sustainable infrastructure shape the development of peri-urban and rural areas into productive landscapes.

Participatory Processes

Sustainable urban development also implies justice and social inclusion. Planning procedures must engage with local communities to ensure the participation of different ages, genders, viewpoints, and cultural backgrounds. With the support of experts and innovative methodologies, we bridge the interests of various stakeholders and bring them to a shared vision.

Ecosystem Assessment

The real legacy of our society must be the ability to apply digital technologies and scientific knowledge to the design and management of ecosystems to ensure a more sustainable future for our planet. Assessing natural capital is our mission, in order to create environmental awareness and promote data-driven strategies.

Landscaping under extreme conditions

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is pioneering a transformative approach to urban development, driven by the ambitious goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has launched the Green Riyadh Program to create vibrant, sustainable urban spaces for residents and visitors alike. As part of this program, LAND planned the 75-hectare Al Urubah Park, the first to be digitally driven.

Offices

As established players with deep roots in Vienna, LAND Austria champions sustainable urban and landscape development. The young, dynamic team brings fresh ideas and innovative approaches to designing the livable spaces that characterize Austria's landscape architecture.

As Canada’s massive population growth continues, accompanied by an increased climate risk, LAND Canada focuses on using nature as a driving force for innovation in urban and regional development strategies.

LAND Germany cultivates projects that promote sustainable lifestyles inspired by landscape. The diverse, multicultural team develops design concepts, built solutions, adaptation strategies and digital methods for the future-proof transformation of communities, cities and regions in Germany and across its borders.

The landscape design and consulting work of LAND Italia is inspired by the beauty and extraordinary variety of the region. The team capitalizes on connective capacity and the ability to shape the landscape through complex processes of urban regeneration and transformation, including in sensitive environmental and historic-cultural settings.

The Middle East and North Africa are marked by social upheaval, political conflict, and ecological visions. LAND MENA addresses the opportunities and challenges of rapid urban development and expanding cultural horizons in the region through landscape architecture and resilient urban planning that place people and their needs in the forefront.

In terms of societal transformation and climate change, LAND Suisse addresses unique challenges in Switzerland. In developing ecological infrastructure, accompanied by nature- and climate-positive design and actions, the team eagerly approaches every challenge to make landscapes and cities resilient and more livable for future generations.

LAND Research Lab

Urban Biodiversity Mapping

LAND Research Lab, in collaboration with the Polifactory team from Politecnico di Milano and wildlife experts from Studio TerraViva, conducted the T-Factor project in Milan Innovation District (2021 to 2023) to address climate change and biodiversity loss in urban areas by integrating nature-centric design principles.

The project aimed to identify and map the environmental, cultural, and social values of urban biodiversity to assist decision-makers in implementing conservation strategies aligned with the European Commission’s Biodiversity Strategy 2030 and the European Council’s objectives.

Culture

Communication, in particular raising public awareness, is an important part of resilient processes. News, publications (LANDmagazine) and exhibition areas such as La Wunderkammer seek to establish and maintain contacts. The focus is on people and their needs.
