X-Change Logistics Terminal, Alessandria
Italy
The project stands out as a new international best practice, introducing a radical transformation in the paradigm of logistics hubs and industrial areas. These areas, once seen as closed-off, polluting, and passive, are reimagined as open, permeable, green, self-sufficient, and proactive spaces that actively reduce environmental impact.

Masterplan
The new intermodal hub at Alessandria Smistamento rail yard outlines a forward-looking model for future logistics hubs, no longer urban islands, but essential nodes in an interconnected network of goods, energy, people, and nature.
The “X-Change” project promotes balanced development across economic growth, environmental protection, and social well-being, following ESG standards and the guidelines of the LEED® for Communities program.
The landscape strategies include widespread green and nature-based solutions (NBS) throughout the masterplan, aimed at mitigating the project’s environmental impact.
